Mattie Lou McNair Durham Wood, age 84, of Greensboro, GA, died Saturday, April 29, 2006 at Greene Point Health Care Center in Union Point. Born in Glascock County on July 4, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Henry Robert McNair and Elma Bell McNair. She attended Moon''s Academy in White Plains, GA. During her working career she was a knitter at Chipman Union in Union Point, GA and worked at Apparel Processing in Greensboro, GA before retiring in 1983. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. Mrs. Wood was a longtime and faithful member of Centennial Christian Church in White Plains.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Wesley Allen Durham; her second husband, Jessie Weldon Wood; siblings, Robert McNair, Rance McNair, Clinton McNair, Thomas McNair, Frank McNair, Gabe McNair, Samuel McNair, Theodore McNair and John B. McNair; and two grandchildren, Cathy Gardner and Crystal Scoggins. She is survived by three daughters, Mary Durham Scoggins of Greensboro, GA, Patsy Durham Powell of Greensboro, GA and Allene Durham Callaway of Union Point, GA; a son, Walter H. Durham of Orange Park, FL; a sister, Ruby Mae Deen of Arnoldsville, GA; nine grandchildren, Wesley Scoggins, Wanda Wallace, B. Jeff Smith, Shirley Blakely, Tim Callaway, Todd Callaway, Terri DuBoise, Debbie Gulbrand and Sandi French; twenty-five great grandchildren, Josh Scoggins, Jennifer Scoggins, Alexis Scoggins, Jessica Wallace, Joshua Wallace, B. J. Smith Jr., Vernoica Doolittle, Cheryl Benveniste, Kristi Workman, Denise Holbert, Jennifer Durham, Michael French, Tommy Gulbrand, Staci Gulbrand, Allen Gulbrand, Michael Blakely, Kristi Freeman, Clay Goss, Travis Goss, Michael Beard, Chris Callaway, Corry Callaway, Craig Callaway, Roxanne Neibert and Chelsie Neibert; eleven great great grandchildren, Jessica Blakely, Tyler Blakely, Dylan Freeman, Kara Freeman, Hayden Goss, Ansleigh Goss, Caleb Goss, Kaylee Doolittle, Jordyn Doolittle, Joshua Benveniste and Taylor Workman; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, May 1, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at Centennial Christian Church in White Plains with Dr. Joseph R. Bennett officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in Union Point, GA. Serving as pallbearers are Sam McNair, Jackie McNair, Albert McNair, Jimmy McNair, Paul McNair and Joe Frank McNair. Honorary pallbearers are Boyd McNair, Bobby Lanier, James Lanier, Chris Edwards, Bobby Campbell and Mike Boyer. The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Sunday night at the funeral home. The family requests that any memorials be made to Gideons, P. O. Box 214, Madison, GA 30650.
