Mary Ellon Jackson Obituary

Mary Ellon Duvall Jackson, age 90, of Crawfordville, GA, where she has lived for over 70 years passed away Saturday, May 2, 2026 at The Harbor at Harmony Crossing in Eatonton, GA. Born on November 28, 1935, in Greensboro, GA, Mary Ellon was the daughter of the late Rev. O. L. Duvall and Gladys Self Duvall. She grew up in a loving, faith-filled family and graduated from Alexander Stephens Institute. On August 10, 1952, she married Thomas Irby Jackson at the Woodville Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Kopp officiating.

Dedicated to service, she had a successful 32-year career as the social director and admissions coordinator at Greene Point Health Care retiring in 2010. In this role, her compassion and leadership positively impacted the lives of numerous residents and their families.

A woman of deep faith, Mary Ellon was a faithful and active member of Margaret's Grove Baptist Church for 67 years. She taught Sunday School classes from pre-school to adults for 62 years, sang in the choir, taught study courses, lead singing and taught Bible school. In addition to her service at church she enjoyed baking cakes, reading, visiting shut-ins, and entertaining her children and grandchildren. She cherished her family and friends, and her warm spirit and kind heart ensured she was loved by all who knew her. The profound loss of her presence will be deeply felt by her family and many friends.

She is survived by her devoted sons and their wives: Paul Jackson (Deborah), and Stan Jackson (Kaye) both of Crawfordville, GA. Mary Ellon was a proud grandmother to six grandchildren: Kasie Oliver (Jason), Alisha Head, Ashley Cochran (Thomas), Luke Jackson, April Powell (Cody), and Amanda Phillips (Thomas) and twelve great grandchildren: Johnson O'Neal, Sage Oliver, Michael Oliver, Michael Head, Kensley Head, Ryan Head, Harlan Cochran, Ruby Cochran, Joshua Cochran, Kaleb Cochran, Sawyer Powell, and Blakely Powell. She is also survived by her brothers: Terry Duvall (Allison) Gaffney, SC, Dan Duvall (Shirley) Greensboro, GA, Tommy Duvall (Sonia) Arlington, Texas, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who adored her. In addition to her husband, Thomas Irby Jackson, Mary Ellon was preceded in death by her brothers, Everette Duvall, David Duvall and Leonard Duvall; and her sisters, Elizabeth Espey and Clara Webb, all of whom she loved dearly.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Margarets Grove Baptist Church, 1791 Margarets Grove Road, Crawfordville, GA 30631, with Rev. Tommy Darracott, Rev. Terry Duvall and Rev. Paul Reviere officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the church. Interment will follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery, Rhodes Street, Union Point, GA 30669. Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Oliver, Luke Jackson, Thomas Cochran, Cody Powell, Thomas Phillips, Johnson O'Neal, and Michael Head. Ryan Head and Harlan Cochran will serve as honorary pallbearers.
