Mary Griffeth Finch, of Union Point, GA, passed away on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at the age of 102. Born in Colbert, Georgia, on May 19, 1923, she was one of five children born to the late Ernest Griffeth and Mary Ellen Morris Griffeth, both of Madison County. Mary was a graduate of Union Point High School in 1940. She married James Harold Finch on November 5, 1944. She worked for Union Manufacturing until she accepted a position with the Farmers Bank, from which she retired as Customer Service Manager in 1988 after thirty years of service, and subsequently worked for Stewart Finance until 2000. Throughout her life, she was a dedicated member of the First Baptist Church of Union Point, participating actively in various church activities as a member of the WMU and serving in various capacities.
Survivors include her son, James Darrell Finch (M.G.) of Dawsonville, GA, and daughter, June Elaine (Finch) Windate (George) of Athens, GA. Her grandchildren include Tara DeLaigle (Steve), James Mitchell Finch (Carla), and John Marshall (Jack) Finch; great grandson Landon Finch along with numerous other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Finch, and all of her siblings, Harold Griffeth, Olin Griffeth, Myra Lunceford, and Opie Newsome.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., with funeral services following immediately at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at the Union Point First Baptist Church, 206 Thornton Street, Union Point, GA 30669, with Rev. Alec Ward and Rev. Bruce Lovin officiating. Graveside services will be held afterward in Greenlawn Cemetery, Rhodes Street, Union Point, GA 30669. Pallbearers are designated as Jack Finch, Mitchell Finch, Donnie Harrison, John Rhodes, Mickey Osborne, Tommy Swann, Charles Huff and Tim Huff. Honorary pallbearers will be Lanier Rhodes and Jimmy Scott. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the First Baptist Church, 206 Thornton Street, Union Point, GA 30669.
