Mary Ellen Hensler Arnold also known as Mert by her family, of Greensboro, GA, passed away on Thursday, July 27, 2023 at her residence at the age of 86. Born on August 27, 1936 she was the daughter of the late Charles Henry Hensler, Sr. and Carrie Maxwell Jenkins Hensler. She attended Morgan County High School from 1942 through 1949. Mary was the owner and operator of Elite Beauty Salon. During this time she also did hair for McCommons Funeral Home anytime she was needed. On December 20, 1992 she married Earl Arnold and they became paper carriers for the Atlanta Journal Constitution and that is how she got her name “The Paper Lady”. She attended the First Baptist Church of Greensboro.
Survivors include her daughter, Shirley Duvall and husband Dan of Greensboro, GA; granddaughter, Jackie Maliszewski and husband Rick of Freeport, FL; great granddaughter, Dani Rae Maliszewski; sister, Betty Jean Hensler of Madison, GA; brother, Tony Hensler of Madison, GA; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Also surviving is her beloved dog Abbie. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Johnson Arnold; her daughter, Debra Cash; brothers, Charles Henry Hensler, Jr. and Sidney Lanier Hensler.
Funeral Services will be Sunday, July 30, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 203 S. Main Street, Greensboro, GA 30642 with Rev. Mark Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Greenview Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Kent Walker, Scott Baynes, Zippy Duvall, Bruce Lovin, Robbie Chapman and Charles Crumbley. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at McCommons Funeral Home.
