Martha Lillian Lawson Scott, an Eatonton, Georgia resident, died on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at the age of 88, at The Harbor in Eatonton, Georgia. She was the daughter of the late Herbert Alexander Lawson and Mary Margaret Benson Lawson and was born on October 9, 1937, in Memphis, Tennessee.
Martha married her husband, Ronald D. Scott, on December 31, 1955, in DeSoto County, Mississippi, and they shared 36 years of marriage before he passed away in 1992. She joined her son and daughter-in-law in Georgia as they retired to Lake Oconee. Her husband served in the United States Air Force for 20 years, during which they were stationed in multiple locations including Michigan, Texas, Tennessee, Okinawa, and California. She was a lifelong, faithful member of the Southern Baptist Church.
Martha was a devoted homemaker who found great joy in caring for her family. She also enjoyed home decorating, crocheting, and reading.
She is survived by her son, Ronnie W. Scott (Barbara), Greensboro, GA; grandchildren, Kelly Scott (Ryla), Louisville, KY, Tyler Scott (Savannah), Maryville, TN, Jeff Jordan (Chelsea), Fayetteville, GA, and Kristin Tofanelli (Tony), Peachtree City, GA; and great-grandchildren, Sydalee and Sadie Scott, Maryville, TN, Addison, Amelia, and Jack Tofanelli, Peachtree City, GA, and Blake, Hudson, and Margot Bell, Fayetteville, GA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald D. Scott; her son, David L. Scott; and her brother, Herbert (Bubba) Lawson.
