Mark Edmond Hickey, age 69, of Greensboro, Georgia, died Friday, January 4, 2013 at St. Mary''s Good Samaritan Hospital in Greensboro. Mr. Hickey was born in St. Louis, Missouri on November 17, 1943 to the late Edmond Daniel Hickey and Margaret Schweitzer Hickey. He graduated from Salesian High School in Detroit, Michigan, received a Bachelor''s Degree from St. Benedicts College in Atchison, Kansas and later his Master''s Degree from St. Francis in Altoona, Pennsylvania. He served his country from 1961 until 1964 in the United States Air Force during the Cuban Missile Crisis. On May 20, 1967 he married the former Marilyn Jean Smith. All of his working career was spent in Labor Relations on contract negotiations, arbitration and strike management, most recently as Senior Partner and Managing Director with Management Support Services, Inc. as of which he continued to consult on after retirement. After growing up and primarily living in Michigan, they moved to their home on Lake Oconee in 2007. He had many hobbies including playing hockey, bike riding, music, reading, trivia and photography. Mark was an active and faithful member of Christ Our King and Savior Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.

In addition to his wife Marilyn of Greensboro, GA, he is survived by a daughter, Kelly Hickey of Chicago, Illinois; two sons, Kevin Hickey and wife Jennifer of Marietta, Georgia and Ed Hickey and wife Eden of Nashville, Tennessee; two sisters, Molly Martin and husband Thomas of Plymouth, Michigan and Patricia Hickey of Grand Rapids, Michigan; sister-in-law, Patricia Smith of Bradenton, Florida; three grandchildren, Emma, Caroline and Teddy Hickey; a number of nieces and nephews and many, many friends. He was preceded in death by a brother, Joel T. Hickey.

A Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Our King and Savior Catholic Church, 6341 Lake Oconee Parkway, Greensboro, GA 30642 with Father G. Philip Ryan officiating. The Knights of Columbus will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday night at McCommons Funeral Home. The Rosary will be recited at 5:30 p.m. and the Wake service will be at 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family request any memorials be made to the Knights of Columbus, c/o Christ Our King and Savior Catholic Church, 6341 Lake Oconee Parkway, Greensboro, GA 30642, or Mercy Home for Boys & Girls, c/o Fr.
