Marjorie Ann Kelly “Marge” Shannon, a beloved mother, grandmother, and homemaker, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at the age of 88. Marge died at The Glen At Lake Oconee in Greensboro, Georgia, having relocated to the area from her longtime home in Augusta, Georgia.
Marge was born in Antigo, Wisconsin, on September 14, 1937, to Harry John Kelly and Ruth Valentine McGee Kelly. She spent her formative years in Antigo, where she attended and graduated from Antigo High School. It was also in Antigo that she met the love of her life, Ronald Jantz Shannon. Marge and Ronald were united in marriage on July 6, 1957. Their loving partnership spanned 64 years until Ronald's passing. Marge dedicated her life to her family as a devoted homemaker, finding immense joy in raising her children and spending time with her loved ones.
Marge was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Ruth Kelly; her devoted husband, Ronald Jantz Shannon, and her sisters, Ruth Mary Scott, Kathleen Powers, and Patricia Ceronsky.
Her memory will be cherished by her surviving children: Kelly Miller and her husband, Col. Doug Miller (Ret.) of Eatonton, Georgia; Kevin Shannon and his wife, Jennifer of Charlotte, North Carolina; Colleen McKinney and her husband, Dr. Daniel McKinney of Carrollton, Georgia; and Megan Jackson and her husband, Chris of Augusta, Georgia.
Marge’s legacy continues through her adoring grandchildren: Sean Miller of Charlotte, North Carolina; Morgan Cox of Charleston, South Carolina; Anna Claire and Cullen McKinney of Carrollton, Georgia; and Caroline, Christopher, and Kathleen Jackson of Augusta, Georgia.
A memorial Mass to celebrate Marge's life will be held Monday, January 5. 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary On The Hill Catholic Church, 1420 Monte Sano Avenue, Augusta, GA 30904. Inurnment will take place at Queen of Peace Cemetery in Antigo, Wisconsin, where she will be laid to rest. The family requests a donation to the Alzheimer's Association in lieu of flowers.
