Marianne Botdorf Obituary

Marianne Woyar Botdorf of Greensboro, GA passed away on Sunday, August 28, 2022 at the age of 65, after battling several health issues over the past year. Born on September 25, 1956 in Atlanta, GA she was the daughter of the late Walter Woyar and Mary Lois James Woyar.  Marianne grew up in the Chastain Park area of Atlanta and attended North Springs High School. After graduation, she studied at West Georgia College. Marianne married Joseph Franklin Botdorf, III (Frank) on October 24, 1998, Shortly after, they built a home and moved to the Lake Oconee area in July 2000.

Marianne held several administration assistant and office manager positions with software and high technology companies such as Control Data and Servantis Systems, Inc. in Atlanta before moving to Greensboro, GA. Once she and Frank moved to Lake Oconee-Harbor Club, she worked in the marketing department for Reynolds Plantation, several doctors’ offices and most recently and probably her most favorite job at the Greensboro Chamber of Commerce.

Once retired, Marianne enjoyed living at Harbor Club, was an active member of Walker United Methodist Church of Greensboro and carried on her mother’s tradition in working at the Greene County Christian Outreach Thrift Store.
Marianne is survived by her husband of almost 24 years, Frank Botdorf.  She is also survived by her brother, James Woyar, sister-in-law, Mary; her beloved dog, Panda; other relatives and many friends.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Woyar.

A Celebration of Life Service will be Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Walker United Methodist Church, 2730 Walker Church Road, Greensboro, GA 30642 with Pastor John Pike officiating followed by a reception in the church fellowship hall. The family requests that any donations be made to Walker United Methodist Church, 2730 Walker Church Road, Greensboro, GA 30642 or the American Cancer Society, 105 Westpark Drive, Athens, GA 30606.  McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
