Margaret Louise “Maggie” Phillips of Greensboro, GA, passed away peacefully at her home after a prolonged illness related to multiple sclerosis. Her loving husband, Doug, and close friend, Ewren were by her side. Born in Denver, Colorado, on March 31, 1951, she was the daughter of the late Stanley Robert Mellor and Cyrilka Birdell Roseberry Mellor. On April 18, 1987, she married Douglas Lee Phillips in Las Vegas. After relocating to Greensboro, she worked as a CNA for Dr. Cowles until her retirement. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, and traveling.
Her survivors include her husband, Doug Phillips, of Greensboro; her daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Terry Kirk, of Stevensville, Maryland; her beloved grandchildren, who knew her as “Grandma Maggie”: Bailey, Joey, Merysa, and Brady Kirk; nieces, Jesse and Kristin; nephews, Sam and Matt; as well as one sister, and a brother-in-law, along with other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Mike Mellor; and her father- and mother-in-law, Bill and Lois Phillips.
Doug and Julie, along with their families, would like to sincerely thank everyone who cared for Margaret. She was truly blessed to be surrounded by dedicated and compassionate professionals throughout her journey with MS.
To all the doctors, caregivers, friends, and neighbors — thank you. Your kindness and support meant a great deal. Margaret exemplified how to face MS with courage, grace, a smile, and a sense of humor. She demonstrated to us all how to confront adversity with strength and love.
