Margaret Lundy Obituary

Margaret Hopkins Lundy, age 96, passed away Saturday, December 17, 2011 at Greene Point Health and Rehab in Union Point. Margaret was born May 5, 1915, the daughter of the late Mary Ann Brown Hopkins and Frank Thomas Hopkins, Sr. She was born in the Lundberg Community of Wilkes County where she grew up and attended school. After graduating from high school, she began working as an inspector for Union Manufacturing, where she worked for over fifty years. She married Tom Watson Lundy, who preceded her in death in June of 1997. As long as health permitted she was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Union Point, GA. Mrs. Lundy was an awesome cook specializing in pound cakes and fruit cakes and enjoyed entertaining family and friends. She was really good at fishing and also enjoyed gardening.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Frances Hopkins Cato Cantrell and Kathryn Hopkins Arthur; and a brother, Edward Addison Hopkins; she is survived by two sons, Thomas Eugene Lundy and wife Pam of Greensboro, GA and Larry F. Lundy and wife Sue of McCormick, SC; two brothers, Frank Hopkins, Jr. and wife Clara of Greensboro, GA and Roger Hopkins and wife Eloise of Greensboro, GA; sisters-in-law, Mattie Hopkins of Union Point, GA and Ethel Lundy of Greensboro, GA; four grandchildren, Lynn Newkirk, Lea Brickley, Dale Lundy and wife Christy and Erin Lundy; seven great grandchildren, Ellie Lundy, Gatlin Lundy, Khristina Brickley, Augusta Bybee, Brandon Moore, Jozie Williams and Carley Williams; and a host of other family and friends.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, December 22, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church, 206 Thornton Street, Union Point, GA 30669 with Rev. Nancy Glass and Rev. Harry Michael officiating. Graveside service will follow immediately at Greenlawn Cemetery, Rhodes Street, Union Point, GA with Rev. Paul Glass officiating. Serving as pallbearers are Dee Lindsey, Mark Higdon, Paul Jackson and Gene Lindsey. The family will receive friends Thursday morning from 10:00 a.m. until time for the service at Callaway Funeral Home in Union Point.
