Maner Rice Ellenberg, Jr.

Mr. Maner Rice Ellenberg Jr, age 87 of Siloam, GA passed away Monday, November 12, 2018 at his home after a long illness. He was born on May 18, 1931 in Greene County, Georgia. Maner was the son of the late Maner Rice Ellenberg, Sr. and Callie Coley Ellenberg of Siloam. He was married to the former Marjorie Elizabeth Batson for 61 years.   

After graduating from Greensboro High School, he worked for the Citizens Bank. Later he worked for Farmers Feed and Seed for 25 years. In 1977 he bought Union Point Farm & Garden and was owner and operator from 1977- 2005, where he made many life-long friends.  Maner was a life-long member of Siloam United Methodist Church where he served as a Sunday School Superintendent for forty years. He served as an administrator on the board and loved serving his church. Maner was a pillar of his community and was well-known and respected by the people in Greene and surrounding counties. He was a member of the Georgia Farm Bureau, Greene County Country Club, and served as a Siloam Volunteer Fireman and Auxiliary Policeman. He also served in the Army Reserve for 10 years and achieved the rank of Master Sergeant. 

Maner was a loving and supportive father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He always enjoyed visits and holidays with them. He loved gardening and farming for most of his life, and cared for beef cows on his farm. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and golfer and was an excellent shot. He loved machines and enjoyed repairing them. He was an outgoing person who never met a stranger and enjoyed talking with others and making them laugh. His sense of humor and love for family will be greatly missed. 

Maner was preceded in death by his mother and father, Maner & Callie Ellenberg, and his sister Frances Ellenberg Griffeth of Union Point. He is survived by his wife Marjorie Batson Ellenberg, daughters Kay Ellenberg McClendon (Tom) of Siloam, GA, and Nancy Ellenberg Woods (Brandon) of Rockmart, GA; and four sons Keith Maner Ellenberg (Shawn) of Siloam, Mark Carl Ellenberg (Thea) of Winterville, GA, John Charles Ellenberg (Sherri) of Jersey, GA, and Eric Rice Ellenberg of Atlanta. His grandchildren include Callie Ann Ellenberg Sparks (Andrew); Jacob, Daniel, David, and Sara Beth McClendon; Sienna, Rylan, Landon, and Roma Ellenberg; Ian, Ross, and Luke Ellenberg; and Cason and Ethan Woods of Rockmart, GA. He has one great-grandson Tucker Sparks of Auburn, AL.

Funeral Services will be held at Siloam United Methodist Church, Siloam, GA on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at 2 p.m. with visitation prior to the service from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. Reverend Micah Wright, pastor of Siloam United Methodist Church, will be officiating. Interment will follow in the Siloam Cemetery immediately following the service.  Serving as pallbearers are family members: Andrew Sparks, Jacob, Daniel, and David McClendon, Landon & Rylan Ellenberg. Honorary pallbearers are the members of the Myrtice Crutchfield Sunday School Class; Mr. Harold Finch; Mr. Billy Swann; Mr. Steve McCommons; Cason Woods; Ian and Ross Ellenberg.  McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
