Macon Overton, Jr. Obituary

Macon Caldwell Overton, Jr., age 78, of Chattanooga TN, died August 6, 2022.  Mickey was born in Wilmington, Delaware on October 24, 1943 to the late Macon Caldwell Overton, Sr. and Lois Gloria Forrester Overton.  Interment is at Greenlawn Cemetery in Union Point, GA.

He attended Savannah High School and went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of South Florida in 1972 and graduated from the FBI Academy in 1973.  He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1963 until 1967, where he served tours of duty in Vietnam and the Dominican Republic.  He was a special agent for the FBI for 25 years retiring in 1995.  He continued his working career with Unum Provident for 11 years, retiring again October 31, 2008.  In 2005 he moved to Chattanooga TN, where he attended Woodland Park and Silverdale Baptist Churches.  Before moving to Chattanooga, he lived in Jackson MS where he was a former member of the Exchange Club, Optimist Club, and Assistant Scoutmaster of BSA Troop 8.  He was also former chairman of the Society of Former Special Agents of the FBI in Chattanooga TN.

Mickey, Macon, Dad, Daddy O, or just O.  Son, brother, father, grandfather, Marine, FBI agent, friend—All who met or knew him will remember–-He loved the Lord and loved people.  On August 6th, 2022, at the age of 78, Mickey went home to be with his parents and Heavenly Father.  Even beyond his life of accomplishments while serving the Marines in Vietnam and the Dominican Republic, or his outstanding 25 year performance while with the FBI, his impact will continue on through the lives of his siblings, (Rusty, Betty, Scott, Becky, Tom), his former wife (Cathy), his children, (Kim Wymer, Cindy Pethel, Chip, & Cooper Overton), and his grandchildren (Sebastion, Cole, Kate, Leah, Teigh, Jase, and Thomas).  All who shared life, time, or a meal with Mickey have been forever changed.  We look forward to the day when we will once again celebrate a meal together with Mickey and our Lord.
