Loyd Barnes Obituary

Loyd Allen Barnes, 69, of White Plains, Georgia passed away Monday, October 29, 2001. Born January 22, 1932 in Hancock County, Mr. Barnes was a son of the late Thomas David Barnes and Flora Mae Edwards Barnes. He attended Siloam and White Plains Schools. Over the years he worked for Edwards'' Sawmill, Georgia Railroad, General Motors, Underwood Electric, Lilburn Police Department, and finally at Muzak as an installer and service technician before retiring in 1979. He was a member of Mt. Stephens Baptist Church of White Plains, YAARAB Shrine Temple of Atlanta, GA and a 32o Mason with Mountain Park Lodge No. 729 F&AM of Stone Mountain, Georgia. He moved back to White Plains in 1983. He enjoyed the outdoors and was a grand champion coon hunter.

He is survived by his wife Julia Nell Moore Barnes of White Plains, Georgia; five daughters, Sherry Herndon & husband Donnie of Snellville, GA, Edna McCart of Lilburn, Georgia, Jennifer Lee and husband Chris of Snellville, Georgia, Peggy E. Clark and husband David of Washington, Georgia, Mildred Ann Dove and husband Lem of Tignal, Georgia; two sons, Terry D. Moore of Crawfordville, Georgia, Henry D. Moore and wife Lisa of Crawfordville, Georgia; two brothers, W. Hayes Barnes and wife Bobbie of Pine Log, Georgia, Edward L. Barnes, Sr. and wife Charlene of Lexington, Georgia; twenty-one grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, October 31, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Stephens Baptist Church of White Plains with Rev. Dennis Garner officiating. Burial will follow in Powellton Cemetery with Masonic honors. Serving as pallbearers are Steven Moore, Dustin Ruff, Tim McCart, Todd McCart, Craig Slade, and Terry Clark. Jacob Lee and Caleb Lee will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family requests that memorials be made to the Masonic Childrens Home of Macon, Georgia or the Mt. Stephens Baptist Church Building Fund. The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
