Carolyn Louise Jones peacefully passed away at her home in Siloam on October 23, 2025, around 11:00 p.m. Ms. Louise was born in Atlanta on March 1, 1929, and spent her early years in Clarkston. In 1940, her family moved to Siloam, where she resided for most of her life.
She was preceded in death by her father, Charlie T. Tolbert, in 1938, and was very close to her mother, Gladys Andrews Tolbert, who passed away in 1973. Her grandfather, Charles “Dandy” Andrews, was a special person in her life; he died in 1952.
On September 22, 1949, Ms. Louise married Bill Jones who passed away in1990. Together, they operated a grocery store in White Plains until 1964, when their son, Charles Andrews, was born. He passed away in 1995.
In her early career, she worked for the McCommons store in downtown Greensboro. She later achieved long-term professional success as the manager of medical records at Minnie G. Boswell Hospital in Greensboro and Morgan Memorial Hospital in Madison, GA. She was a dedicated manager, known for training her staff to perform their duties diligently. She continued working until the age of 77.
Throughout her life, Ms. Louise was very active in square dancing with her husband, traveling extensively throughout the South. She also enjoyed taking road trips with friends and cruised multiple times to Alaska. A lifelong member of Siloam Methodist Church, she played the piano for over 50 years and generously assisted with the children’s choir over many years. Ms Louise was a cat lover & nurtured many sweet animals over the years.
Her older brother, Edward Pierce Tolbert, passed away in 2008; his wife, Virginia Katherine, died in 1980.
She is survived by his children from northern California: Kathy Derby (Jon), Sharon Deusterman, Charles Tolbert, Barbara Stockton (Jorey Reitman), David Tolbert (Holly), and Carol Tolbert (Jean Marie Scott). She also cherished friendships with Kathy and Amanda Willoughby in Fountain Inn, SC. Henry Robbins, her handyman who cared for her home for many years, was loved as a family member.
Ms. Louise was a gracious Southern lady who was deeply loved by her family and friends.
Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Siloam Community Church, Church Street, Siloam, GA 30665, with Reverend Bert Mathews officiating. Interment will follow at Siloam Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the service begins, with a reception after the graveside service.
