Linda Strohecker Obituary

Linda Marlene Baker Strohecker of Eatonton, GA, passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2025, at St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital in Greensboro. She was born on November 27, 1950, in San Antonio, Texas, to the late Marley Alston Baker and Kathryn Twaits Baker. She didn’t have a true home growing up as an Air Force brat, but she always had her family.

Linda had a successful thirty-year career with AT&T and Lucent Technologies retiring as Product Management Director in July of 2001. She was married to Cary Allen Strohecker, Sr., the love of her life, with whom she shared 40 years of unwavering devotion, partnership, and adventure. Their bond was one of deep love and companionship, and they built a life together filled with laughter, travel, and cherished memories. Eight years ago, Linda and Cary moved to Greene County from Alpharetta, GA, to enjoy their retirement on Lake Oconee.

Linda was the heart of her family, always going above and beyond to care for and support those she loved. Her family meant everything to her, and she made sure that no one ever felt alone or without help when they needed it. She was a woman of deep faith, and her Christian beliefs guided her throughout her life, shaping the kindness and generosity she showed to everyone around her.

An adventurer at heart, Linda was incredibly proud to have visited all seven continents. She and Cary loved traveling the world together, making memories with friends and experiencing new cultures. When she wasn’t traveling, she found joy in cooking for her family and friends, always bringing people together through food and warmth.

Linda cherished her community at Harbor Club, where she built lifelong friendships. She was an active member of the Harbor Club Ladies League, couples golf, her bunco league, and Jazzercise, always bringing laughter and enthusiasm to every gathering. She was also a member of the Elks Lodge. She also had a deep love for sports—cheering on the Atlanta Braves and the Georgia Bulldogs with unwavering passion. In quieter moments, she loved getting lost in a good book, always eager to share her latest favorite read.

She is survived by her husband, Cary Strohecker of Eatonton, GA; her son, Cary Allen Strohecker, Jr and his wife Brittany of Canton, GA; sister, Lonnie Moore and her husband James of Pendergrass, GA; and her beloved grandchildren, Rachel Strohecker of LaGrange, GA, and Cary Allen Strohecker III, Clayton Matthew Strohecker, and Vincent Thomas Strohecker, all of Grovetown, GA. She was preceded in death by her sons, Richard Alston Strohecker and Charles Edward Strohecker, and her brother, Marley Baker III.
