Linda (Hunter) Rhyne, MD

Linda Hunter Rhyne, MD, 80, of Eatonton, Georgia, passed away peacefully at her residence on December 7, 2025. Born November 9, 1945, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Linda lived a life marked by compassion, dedication, and service to others.

She attended schools in Mt. Clemens, Michigan; Tulsa, Oklahoma; Tachikowa, Japan; Pasadena, Texas; and Tripoli, Libya, graduating from Poquoson High School in Virginia in 1963. Linda earned her Bachelor of Science in Medicine, graduating Summa Cum Laude from the College of Charleston in 1976, and received her Doctor of Medicine degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in 1979.

Following medical school, Linda moved to Sumter, South Carolina, where she practiced as an Emergency Room Physician for nearly four decades, retiring in 2016. Her unwavering commitment to patient care touched countless lives.

Linda is the daughter of the late Kenneth Lee Hunter, Sr and Jeanetta Payte Hunter. She has 2 siblings: Ronald Dee Hunter (living) and Kenneth Lee Hunter Jr. (deceased). She is pre-deceased by her husband Clyde DeLeon Rhyne, Jr. They were married on October 19, 1964 and were married for 59 years. She is survived by her three children: Kenneth Gregory Rhyne, Sr., Christopher Hunter Rhyne, and Elizabeth Rhyne Best; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She will be remembered for her life-long passion for needlework, quilting, and sewing, as well as her devotion to family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at Stuhr’s Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant at the Mt. Pleasant Memorial Gardens Chapel on Friday, December 12, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., followed by the funeral at 12:30 p.m. Funeral services provided by Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home of Sumter, SC.
