Obituary

    Linda Mae Channell Duvall of Greensboro, GA passed away Friday, July 14, 2023 at Piedmont Athens Regional.  Born In Reidsville, NC she was the daughter of the late Maedelle Bramlett Channell and Eber Donnez “Don” Channell.  Linda was a graduate of Greensboro High School and received her Master’s degree from the University of Georgia. After marrying Bobby Duvall of Greensboro on March 14, 1962, she taught school in Jasper County.  Later she taught at Greene County High School and also Nathanael Greene Academy.  While she was teaching at NGA she was the Senior Class Sponsor, Girls Chorus Teacher and head of the Literary Club winning numerous awards. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Greensboro where she taught Sunday School and played the organ for over fifty years.  
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Duvall of Greensboro. Survivors include her daughter, Donna Duvall Wood (Heath) of Greensboro, GA; son, Robert L. Duvall (Erin) of Greensboro, GA; sister, Nancy Godbee; brother, Frank Don Channell and wife Shirley of Siloam, GA; grandsons, Benjamin Lehman Wood and fiancé Katie, Christian Elijah Wood, Caleb Heath Wood and Peyton Lake Duvall; other relatives and many friends including all the students she taught.
    Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 18, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at McCommons Funeral Home.  Graveside Services will be held on Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. at the Siloam Cemetery, Church Street, Siloam, GA with Rev. Mark Jones officiating.  The family requests that any memorials be made to the First Baptist Church, 203 S. Main Street, Greensboro, GA 30642 or Nathanael Greene Academy, P. O. Box 109, Siloam, GA 30665. Serving as pallbearers are Benjamin Wood, Ken Stewart, George England, Johnny Colclough, Jeff Smith, Joe Bashore and Scott Baynes. Honorary Pallbearers are Bobby Voyles, James Wheeler, Mark Higdon, Dwight Eaton and Billy Byce. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W. Broad St., Greensboro, GA, (706) 453-2626, is in charge of arrangements.
