Lewis Edward Channell, age 78, of Greensboro, Georgia, died on Wednesday, December 20, 2006 at his residence. Son of the late Milton Charles Channell and Agnes Moore Channell, Lewis was born on December 27, 1927, in Lake County, Illinois. He attended Zion High School in Zion, Illinois. He served in the United States Navy and was a veteran of World War II. After thirty-seven years as a Construction Manager with Common Wealth Edison, he retired in 1994. He had lived in Greensboro since March of 2004.

Lewis is survived by two daughters, Laurie Channell of Kenosha, Wisconsin and Lisa Heraver and husband Chuck of Gurnee, Illinois; three sons, Darrell Channell and wife Mary of Zion, Illinois, Wayne Channell and wife Jane of Madison, Wisconsin and Allen Channell of Winthrop Harbor, Illinois; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, December 23, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at McCommons Chapel with Rev. Edward A. Swehla officiating. Interment will follow in the Siloam Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Lester Moon, Kent Walker, Eugene Channell, Kenneth Moore, Ricky Moore and Frank Don Channell. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday night at the funeral home. The family requests that any memorials be made to the charity of your choice.
