Leroy Grant Bird, age 71, of Greensboro, Georgia, died Saturday, May 10, 2003 at Minnie G. Boswell Memorial Hospital. A native of Greene County Tennessee, he was born September 7, 1931 to the late Lonnie Grant Bird and Ethel Wilhoit Bird. He attended school in Greenville, Tennessee and was the owner and operator of a dairy farm in Swords.
Survivors include his wife, Jeannie M. Bird of Greensboro, GA; a daughter, Cynthia Gail Duffey of Eatonton, GA; five step daughters, Annette Richards of Monroe, GA, Donna Bates of Gainesville, GA, Pat Bates of Eatonton, GA, Lisa Wambles of McDonough, GA and Peggy Benoit of Danielsville, GA; a sister, Deane Kirk of Midway, TN; three grandchildren, Kenly Duffey, Katlyn Duffey and Grant Duffey; four step grandchildren, Chris Wambles, Thomas Boswell, Jamie Boswell and Tera Stephens and one step great grandchild, Abby Boswell.
Services will be held Tuesday, May 13, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at Wesley Chapel Wesleyan Church with the Rev. Wayne Usry and Rev. Tim Tabler officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Lark Bargo, Kevin Wambles, Leon Bird, David Berryman, Jubral Holloway, Jimmy Edmonds, Jamie Boswell and Claude Alford. The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday night at the Funeral Home.
