Leonard Jasper “Jay” Witt, Jr., 73, of Greensboro, Georgia, passed away on Monday, June 16, 2025, at his residence. He was born in Lake City, Florida, on July 10, 1951, to the late Leonard Jasper Witt, Sr., and Fannie Graham Witt.
He attended Melrose Park Elementary, Columbia High School, and Valdosta State University. He further completed his education with a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Georgia, where he was a member of the Kappa Alpha Fraternity. On June 24, 1989, he married Elizabeth Hollis Heeney in Atlanta, Georgia, at St. Anne’s Episcopal Church in Atlanta, Georgia.
Jay's professional career began in landscape architecture, and he later worked in medical sales for Baxter Healthcare until his retirement in 2020. He was a member of Christ Our King and Savior Catholic Church. He appreciated spending time with his family and grandchildren, staying active through working out, traveling — particularly to the beach — and enjoying the tranquility of lake living after relocating to Lake Oconee in 1996, following residencies in Lake City, Florida; Atlanta, Georgia; and part-time in Bluffton, South Carolina.
He is survived by his children, Jane Witt English and her husband Rodney of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, and John Turner Witt and his Fiance Joey Mason of Seneca, South Carolina; his sister, Rebecca Witt England and her husband Sanford of Greensboro, Georgia; his grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth Rose English and Ridley Witt English; and his beloved pets, Mac and Molly.
