Lennie Channell Obituary

Lennie Conway Channell, age 80, of Greensboro, GA died Saturday, February 28, 2004 at Athens Regional Medical Center. A lifelong resident of Greene County, he was born on March 6, 1923 to the late Henry Conway Channell and Fannie Belle Finch Channell. He was a 1941 graduate of Greensboro High School. Mr. Channell was the manager of the meat department at Channell''s Super Value and for 39 years drove a school bus for the Greene County Board of Education. In 1985 he retired without ever having an accident. He took great pride in driving the bus and was a member of the School Bus Drivers Association. Mr. Channell was a member of Siloam Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Elisa Ivie Channell of Greensboro, GA; two brothers, James W. "Duck" Channell and wife Dorothy of Greensboro, GA and Gus Channell and wife Lillian of Greensboro, GA; five nephews; three nieces and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by a sister, Daisy C. Jones; and two brothers, Melvin Channell and Ernest Channell.

Graveside services will be held Monday, March 1, 2004 at 2:00 p. m. at Siloam Cemetery with Rev. Avery Beaver officiating. Serving as pallbearers are R. M. "Mickey" Channell, Jimmy Channell, Jimmy Dunn, Charles Bryant, Wayne Taylor, Allen Askew, Willie Lundy and David Ivie. The family requests that memorials be made to the Wesley Chapel Wesleyan Church Building Fund, 2830 Highway 15 South, Greensboro, GA 30642.
