Lena Margaret “Lee” Volpe Gerardi, 83, of Pompano Beach, FL, passed away on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital. Born on December 22, 1941, in New Britain, CT, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Volpe and Mary Frances Sferlazza Volpe.
On January 12, 1964, Lee married the love of her life, Victor Vincent Gerardi, who preceded her in death in 2008. Their love story began in Brooklyn, NY, where they first met when Lee was just five years old. They shared 35 years of marriage and raised two devoted daughters, Lisa Krumper of Greensboro, GA, and Danielle Suddath of Jacksonville, FL, in Pompano Beach, FL.
Lee had a vibrant career, working as an assistant in the Phlebotomy Lab at Holy Cross Hospital and later as a property manager at Headway Office Park. She was known for her dedication, kindness, and strong work ethic.
A beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Lee was most proud of her family. She cherished her role as “Nana Lee” to her five grandchildren: Christian, Justin, Drew, Jack, and Kelly. She and Vic also enjoyed their time living in their cherished “On Golden Pond” home in Sebring, FL.
Lee had a deep love for the arts and the natural world. She found joy in painting, took great pride in her gardening, and had a lifelong affection for all animals. Her creativity, nurturing spirit, and compassion were evident in everything she did.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 8, 2025, in the chapel at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Cemetery, North Lauderdale, FL.
To further honor Lee’s memory, a Mass will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, May 19, 2025, at Christ Our King and Savior Catholic Church, Greensboro, GA, with Father Adam Blatt officiating. A reception will follow at The Glen, Lake Oconee, where Lee last resided.
