Lawrence Albert Baldwin “Bill” Corry, Sr., age 92, of Greensboro, Georgia died Sunday, August 14, 2022 at his residence. Born in Greene County on December 30, 1929, he was the son of the late Reba Lucille Parker and James Clinton Corry. Having lived all of his life in Greene County, Bill was a graduate of Greensboro High School and attended Georgia Tech. Bill proudly served his country in the United States Army. For more than 35 years he had a successful career with the Georgia Department of Transportation as a Civil Engineer. For many years he was the owner and operator of L. A. Corry Surveying. As long as health permitted, he was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Greensboro as an Elder, Sunday School teacher and served as a representative for NEGA Presbytery at General Assembly. He was always working, especially in his yard. He enjoyed eating breakfast with his “coffee” group and, when he was younger, loved to fly his airplane. He was also a member of the Jaycees and a Zoning Board representative.
In addition to his wife and the mother of his children, Betty Ann Moore Corry, he was preceded in death by his son Lawrence Albert “Larry” Corry, Jr.; sister, Betty Jo Evans; and brothers, James Corry and Charles Williams. Survivors include his wife, Ann Corry; two daughters, Susan Spearman of Greensboro, GA and Jill Jackson and husband Larry of Eatonton, GA; son, Eric Corry and wife Sara Ann of Dawsonville, GA; a sister, Ann Boswell of Greensboro, GA; and nine grandchildren, Catherine Spearman, Emmy Corry, Merrie Hayes Byne (Josh), Ella Corry, Margaret Corry, Chip Spearman, Win Corry (Katherine), Nick Hayes and Sam Corry; great grandchildren, Finley Byne, Kacie Byne and Reid Corry; other relatives and friends.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, August 20, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Greensboro with the Rev. Meg Jackson Clark and Rev. Dr. Ford G’Segner officiating. A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall. The family requests that all memorials be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 117 S. Main Street, Greensboro, GA 30642.
