Larry Wade Obituary

Affectionately known as “Big Daddy,” Larry Leon Wade, 77, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 25, 2018 at his home on Lake Oconee surrounded by family following a lengthy battle with cancer.

Larry is survived by his wife Bootsie Wade, daughters: Kathy Lynn Wade of Jacksonville, FL and Kristy Leigh Wade (Eddie Benedit) of Canton, GA, step-daughters: Georgia Howard Frisch (Mike Frisch) of Fayetteville, GA and Wendy Howard Coots (David Coots) of McDonough, GA, two grandchildren: Ryan Joseph Frisch and Rebecca Claire Frisch both of Fayetteville, GA, his sister, Wilma Wade Burnette of Sopchoppy, FL and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.  Larry was preceded in death by his father, Lois Luther Wade, mother, Syvilla Boles Wade, brother, Charles Wade and first wife, Janice Jordan Wade.

Larry owned and operated Southwest Plumbing, for over 40 years.  He passed the torch of his trade to his nephew, Scott Edwards, who purchased the company in 2001. After losing his first wife to cancer, Larry and Bootsie married in November 1988 moving to Lake Oconee in Eatonton, GA to enjoy retirement. Larry’s hobbies included traveling, fishing, golfing and cooking for family and friends. He was well known in the neighborhood for his bountiful fish fries. Larry had the pleasure of traveling many places; some of his most memorable trips included fishing in Alaska and annual visits to Braves spring training with his son-in-law, Mike, and the gang. Larry loved spending time with his wife, daughters, family and friends. One of his greatest joys was spending time with his grandchildren, Ryan and Rebecca.

Larry has left a huge legacy for all of us that had the pleasure of knowing and loving him. In his honor, the family will hold a memorial service on Saturday, March 10th at 11:30 am at the First Baptist Church of Eatonton, GA where he and Bootsie have been active members for years. Immediately following the service, the family will host a “Celebration of Life” reception in the church fellowship hall.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in Larry’s memory to First Baptist Church of Eatonton, 115 N. Madison Avenue, Eatonton, GA  31024.  McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
