King Dye Obituary

King William “King Willie” Dye, 89, of Crawfordville, GA, died Friday, September 23, 2005 at his home in Crawfordville. He was born in the Liberty Community in Greene County on December 6, 1915 to the late Joseph Edward Dye and Dora Campbell Dye. He was a graduate of Siloam High School. During World War II he served in the United States Army working on tanks as a Technical Sergeant. Mr. Dye retired from the Department of Defense Civil Service at Fort Gordon in Augusta. He was a member of the Crawfordville Presbyterian Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ernestine “Teenie” Taylor Dye, in March of 2004 and siblings, Ellis Dye, Eva Smith, Eddie Lee Michaels and Coretta David. Survivors include two sons, Paul Dye and wife Nancy of Columbus, GA and Robert Dye and wife Kathy of Yorktown, VA; four grandchildren, James Dye, Beth Stinson, Melissa Eldridge and Robert Page Dye; one great grandchild, Chase Stinson; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral Services will be held Monday, September 26, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the Crawfordville Presbyterian Church with Rev. Myron Ivey officiating. Interment will follow at the Crawfordville Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Reggie Haslett officiating. Serving as pallbearers are Charles Greene, Edward Stratton, Ralph Hoke Flynt, Roy Dozier, James Dye and Robert Page Dye. The family requests that any memorials be made to the Crawfordville Presbyterian Church, Commerce Street, Crawfordville, GA 30631.
