Kermit Moody Obituary

Kermit Moody passed away in his sleep surrounded by family on June 30th, 2023.

Kermit Gilbert Moody was born to Laura Mae Moody and Allen Jackson Moody on November 23rd, 1938 at Savannah Beach, GA.

Kermit grew up in Hinesville, GA and attended Bradwell Institute through his junior year before moving to Jesup, GA.  In 1956, he graduated from Jesup High School and then entered the workforce.

In 1964, Kermit married the love of his life, Kathy Gordon. They started a family and lived in Jesup for 25 years before moving to Valdosta in 1989 with Kermit’s job. Before retiring in 2003 and moving to Lake Oconee in Greensboro, GA Kermit worked in the Insurance business for 44 years.

While living at Lake Oconee, Kermit and Kathy were members of Grace Fellowship Church of Greensboro, and he volunteered at the Habitat for Humanity for 12 years. A weekly highlight for Kermit was his Tuesday morning men’s bible study. He was an active pickleball player at the Harbor Club and loved the competition and friendships. He and Kathy continued their 30 plus years of supporting UGA football by attending games and having family tailgates. Kermit never met a stranger and always made people laugh. One of his favorite hobbies was telling people stories about his grandkids.

Kermit was preceded in death by his parents Laura Mae and Allen Jackson, sister Edith Chester, and brothers Alfred Moody, Jack Moody, and Jerrell Moody.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Kathy Gordon Moody of Greensboro and his children Matt Moody (Gillian) of Kennesaw, Stacy Hall (Steve) of Atlanta, and Scott Moody (Jessica) of Bogart, sister-in-law Barbara Moody (Jerrell) of Ludowici, sister-in-law Wanda Gordon of Valdosta, brother-in-law Herman Gordon of Valdosta, sister-in-law Erin Kitchens of Warner Robins, and brother-in-law Kenny Kitchens of Warner Robins.
