Kenneth "Ken" George, Sr.

Robert Kenneth “Ken” George, Sr., age 81, of Rabun Gap, Georgia, formerly of Greensboro, passed away peacefully at his residence on Monday, February 2, 2026. Born in Washington, Georgia, on March 10, 1944, Ken was the son of the late Franklin Charles George, Sr., and Addie Ruth Overton George. He was a graduate of the University of Georgia, where he earned his bachelor’s degree. On June 9, 2015, he married Kay Gentry Boswell, and five years ago, they relocated from Greensboro to Rabun Gap.

Throughout his career, Ken was employed by Union Oil and Gas Company in West Virginia, Western Auto in Greensboro, Georgia, and was the owner of Homes by George in Florida, from which he retired in 2009. He was passionate about his family, as well as supporting the Georgia Bulldogs football team, traveling, and caring for his beloved pets.

Ken is survived by his devoted wife, Kay Boswell, of Rabun Gap; his daughter, Mary Beth (Charl) of Vandenberg, South Africa; his five sons, Chip, Matt, Rob, Mel (Carrie), and Cole; his sister, Boots Lanpher; sisters-in-law, Virginia George and Lyn George; grandchildren, Jenna, Chae, Will, Ben, Jack, Hadley, Briggs, Cam, Wyatt, and Raleigh Kate; his pets Duke and Lily; along with other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his brothers Charlie George and Wayne George.

A memorial service will be held at McCommons Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, March 9, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. The visitation will occur at the funeral home at 1:00 p.m. McCommons Funeral Home, located at 109 W.
