Katherine English (Hammond) Webb

Katherine Hammond Webb age 81, of Union Point, GA, died Sunday, December 20, 2020 at St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital in Greensboro, GA.  A lifelong resident of Greene County she was born May 3, 1939 to the late John Hoke Hammond and Annie Ruth Moon Hammond.  Katherine graduated from Greensboro High School. On December 22, 1957 she married Henry Russell English, Sr. who passed away in 1995 and on March 27, 2001 she married Raymond Adolphus Webb who passed away in 2016.  For many years she worked with Henry at English Easy Stop in Greensboro and later she was the bookkeeper for Greene Point Health and Rehabilitation in Union Point, GA.  Family was most important to her and over the years she was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed travelling, cooking, and yard work especially taking care of her flowers and ferns.  She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Greensboro.

In addition to her son, Frank Hammond English of Avondale Estates, GA she is survived by her daughter-in-law, Tammy English of Union Point, GA; two sisters, Joann Hanes and Hokie Wright; two granddaughters, Sally Ruth Bussey and Linda Katherine “Katie” Welch; seven great grandchildren: Jaden Nix, Will Welch, Emy Welch, Rider Bussey, Jayci Bussey, Sibley Bussey and Tuff Lee Bradley; other relatives and many friends.  She was preceded in death by her son, Henry Russell “Little Henry” English, Jr. and sister, Peggy Murphy.

A Graveside Service will be held Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at 12:30 p.m. at Penfield Cemetery, 1211 Cemetery Road, Penfield, GA 30669 with Rev. Wayne Usry officiating.  The family will receive friends Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. to 12 noon at McCommons Funeral Home. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
