K-9 Oby was a Belgian Malinois born in Holland on June 11, 2010. He was imported to the United States and trained as a police dog by Custom Canine Unlimited in Gainesville, Ga. Oby came to the Greene County Sheriff's Office on October 26, 2012 and was assigned to his handler Deputy Patrick Paquette. Oby was trained in narcotics detection, patrol, tracking, article search, and apprehension. Throughout his career his sniffs lead to many arrests for loads of illegal narcotics and the seizure of large amounts of cash. Oby was also involved in 2 cases where juvenile females were recovered from human traffickers. When called on, Oby assisted federal and state agencies in their operations. Oby most loved performing demos for the children in Greene County Schools. Oby worked under the leadership of Sheriff Chris Houston and Sheriff Donnie Harrison. Oby was a great partner to K-9's Igor, Renzo, Janco, Takoda, and their handlers.
