Judy Burden (Hensley) Gheesling

Judy Carol Hensley Burden Gheesling of Greensboro, Georgia passed away Saturday, August 29, 2015 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Athens after a short battle with cancer at the age of 72.  She was born on August 28, 1943 in Washington,Georgia and was the daughter of the late Talmadge C. Hensley and Jennie Brock Hensley.  She attended Woodville school until the 7th grade and later graduated from Union Point High School in 1961.  She attended Sylvia’s Beauty School in Athens, Georgia in 1961.  In 1962 she moved to Elberton where she started her career as a beautician working for Janet Carrington.  She married Bobby Lee Burden on December 1, 1962.  In 1971 they moved to Union Point, Georgia.  She continued her career at Artistic Beauty Shop in Union Point.  In 1982 she became the owner  and retired in 2006 after 45 years as a beautician.  On October 28, 2004 she married Charles Stanley Gheesling, Sr.  Judy was a lifelong member of Bethesda Baptist Church in Union Point, Georgia.  

In addition to her husband Charles Stanley Gheesling, Sr. of Greensboro, Georgia, she is survived by three sons, Barry Scott Burden (Laura) of Greensboro, Timothy Walton Burden (Marie) of Union Point and Daniel Brock Burden of Union Point, brother, Talmadge Burton “Burt” Hensley (Charlene) of Greensboro, stepdaughter, Kathy Elizabeth Gheesling Smith (Tyson) of Townsend, Tennessee; stepson, Charles Stanley Gheesling, Jr. (Penny) of Colbert, GA; grandchildren, Kathryn Lynn Burden, Adam Wayne Burden, Brandon Bobby Burden, Cassandra Leigh Burden Usry (Blake), Kellie Ann Burden, Brianna Nicole Burden, Jason Clifford Conner, Lance Stephen Conner, Rachel Elizabeth Conner, Tyson Scott Smith, Matthew Mercer Smith, Jacob Andrew Smith, Charles Bradley Gheesling (Kimberly), and Heather Elizabeth Gheesling; great grandson, Ryker; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Bobby Lee Burden.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Bethesda Baptist Church, 1560 Bethesda Church Road, Union Point, Georgia 30669 with Rev. Bruce Lovin and Rev. Jim Olds officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers are Richard Cronic, Bill Moore, Wade Hensley, Sam Hensley, Dwayne Hensley and Charles Stanley Gheesling, Jr.  Honorary pallbearers are Don Ellis and L. A. Hensley.  The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday night at McCommons Funeral Home in Greensboro.
