Judith “Judy” Vivian Sorrow Griffith of Union Point, GA, a beloved mother and grandmother, passed away on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at the age of 81. She died at Greene Point Health Care & Rehabilitation in Union Point, GA. Born on July 18, 1944, in Baltimore, MD, she was the daughter of the late Ruby Mitchell Taylor Sorrow and Julious Venson “J.V.” Sorrow. Judy grew up in Union Point, Georgia and graduated from Union Point High School. She also received an associate degree from Athens Tech. She was married to George Allen Griffith, Sr. for forty-four years until his death in 2013. She was a seamstress at Style-Rite in Woodville, worked for Caldwell Laundry taking orders and in the deli at Golden Pantry. Judy was an active and dedicated member of Bethesda Baptist Church.
Judy is survived by her daughter, Anne Rhoden and her husband Eddie of Union Point, GA, and her son, Al Griffith. She leaves behind two cherished grandchildren, Zeke and Eli Griffith, as well as other relatives and many long-time friends.
Funeral services will be held at Bethesda Baptist Church, 1560 Bethesda Church Road, Union Point, GA 30669, on Monday, April 13, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. The service will be officiated by Rev. Lem Clark, with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The pallbearers will be Tony Fowler, Eddie Rhoden, Joey Griffith, Greg Brown, Mason Cronic, and David Cronic. Richard Cronic will be honorary pallbearer. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the church. Arrangements are being handled by Callaway Funeral Home, 208 N.
