Gloria Juanita “Nita” Moon Meadows, 78, of Union Point, Georgia, passed away Wednesday, June 28, 2023. Born December 14, 1944, in Washington, GA, she was one of six children of the late Lillian Howard Moon and Blanche Ogletree Moon. Nita graduated from Greene County High School in 1962. In April of 1991, she was preceded in death by her first husband and the father of her children, Howell Alexander Worthen. On June 7, 1992, she married Milton Meadows of Union Point. For many years she worked for The Farmers Bank as a teller. She was a faithful member of the Bethesda Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, Granny, and sister and had many friends.
Survivors include her daughters, Yalonde Tanner (Hugh) of Covington, GA and Julie Davenport (Darren) of Greensboro, GA; son, David Meadows of Union Point, GA; sisters, Dean Mansfield and Patricia Adams; grandchildren, Alex Stonecipher (Jenny), Hiliary Conn (Billy), Karlea Tanner, Spencer Tanner Cliff Worthen (Hunter), Megan Worthen, Natalie Chastain Davenport, Victoria Davenport and ten great-grandchildren, many other relatives and friends and her grand dog Gilbert. In addition to her first husband, Howell Worthen and second husband, Milton Meadows, she was preceded in death by a son, Anthony “Tony” Worthen and all of her brothers, Fred Moon, Larry Moon and Lennie Moon, and her beloved dog, Candy.
A memorial Service will be held on Sunday, July 9, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Bethesda Baptist Church, 1560 Bethesda Church Road, Union Point, GA 30669, with Rev. Bruce Lovin officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the service at the church, with burial following in the church cemetery.
