John "Bobby" Robert Brewer III

                John Robert Brewer, III, (Bobby) age 83 of Greensboro, passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 28, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. Bobby was born in Marietta, Georgia on March 14, 1939, to John Robert Brewer, Jr., and Polly Allgood Brewer. He attended Marietta High School, North Georgia College, West Georgia College, and Georgia State College.  He majored in management and marketing and was employed by Chevron Oil Company as a marketing representative.  In early 1970’s, he bought the Chevron Oil distributorship in Jacksonville, Florida. Bobby served as Southeastern Vice President of the Petroleum Marketing Association of the U.S.A.  The family moved from Jacksonville, Florida to Lake Oconee in Greene County in the 1990’s.

         Bobby was an avid golfer for over 60 years and also played tennis. He had a great sense of humor and was always loving and caring to family and friends.  He was past member of Reynolds Plantation in 1990’s, Harbor Club President in 2000, past member of the Tournament Players Club of Sawgras and patron of the Players Champion Golf Tournament.  He was also a member of the Georgia Air National Guard.

            Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Nancy Mathis Brewer; son John Robert Brewer IV (Bo), wife Kirsten; daughter, Anita Louise Taylor, husband Ken Taylor; grandchildren, Sarah Ashley Stewart, Polly Ann Lamb, Katie Sproule, Rebecca Brewer Bridgeman, Rachel Brewer Finn, Malia Brewer and Micah Brewer; 10 great grandchildren; sister Betty Brewer Munford, husband Henry Munford; nephews, Gray, Ingram, and Mac Munford; Bob had many dear friends, colleagues and cousins.

          A memorial service will be held at Walker United Methodist Church, 2730 Walker Church Road in Greensboro at 11:00 a.m. this Friday, March 3, 2023. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church’s Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Walker United Methodist Church.
