John Wayne Wilhelm

John Wayne Wilhelm, age  85, of Crawfordville, GA passed away at St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital in Greensboro on Wednesday, October 26, 2022. He was born October 21, 1937, in Cleveland, NC to the late Glenn Carmack Wilhelm and Mary Ethel Eudy Wilhelm.  John graduated from Cleveland High School and on June 13, 1959, he married  the former Joanne Rhodes.  John retired from Bellsouth as a technician which later became AT&T.  In March of 1993 they moved from Charlotte, NC to Crawfordville and have lived there for the last sixteen years. He enjoyed any sports and working in the yard. John was a member of Crawfordville Baptist Church where he was a past deacon, was on the building and grounds committee and worked the sound system on Sundays. 

John is survived by his wife of sixty-three years, Joanne Wilhelm; daughter, Jennifer Wilhelm Beck and her husband Carl of Valdese, NC; sister, Irene Sherrill and her husband Cecil; grandchildren, Tucker Rhodes Beck and Hayden Carl Beck and his wife Lauren; other relatives and many friends.  He was preceded in death by his sister, Sallie Dillon and brothers, Larry Hill Wilhelm and William Ray Wilhelm.

Funeral service will be held Sunday, October 30, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Crawfordville Baptist Church, 142 Memorial Drive, Crawfordville, GA 30631 with Rev. Nelson Goddard officiating. Interment will follow in the church Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Bobby Moore, Wayne Williams, Matt Power, Andy Holbrook, Tom Revera and Joey Rhodes. The family will receive friends Sunday at Crawfordville Baptist Church  from 1:00 p.m. until time for the service.
