John Richard Werthmann, a beloved resident of Greensboro, Georgia, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, November 16, 2025. He was 84 years old.
Born on February 12, 1941, in Detroit, Michigan, John was the son of the late Cletus Anthony Werthmann and Mary Catherine Schultz Werthmann. A proud alumnus of the University of Detroit, John earned his bachelor's degree before honorably serving his country in the United States Air Force. His commitment to service and excellence defined much of his life.
In 2003, John found a lifelong companion in Terry Linda Pace, whom he married on July 3rd of that year. The couple shared many happy years together, eventually making the decision six years ago to move to the Lake Oconee area, settling in Greensboro after relocating from Jacksonville, Florida.
Professionally, John enjoyed a distinguished career with the Chrysler Corporation, culminating at the position of Chief Financial Officer for Lamborghini USA where he worked in auto financing until his well-deserved retirement. Outside of his professional life, John was a man of diverse and passionate interests. He was a dedicated and active member of the sailing community, notably serving as the esteemed Commodore of the Bayview Yacht Club. Beyond the water, he had a lifelong appreciation for automobiles, a hobby that brought him great joy and satisfaction.
In addition to his devoted wife, Terry, John is survived by his loving sister, Mary Lynn Werthmann Konechne (John), of Mt. Clemens, Michigan, a number of nieces and nephews, as well as many cherished friends.
The family plans to hold a Celebration of John’s remarkable life at a later date, where friends and family can gather to honor his memory.
