John Frederick Dorsey, age 71, of Greensboro, GA, formerly of Atlanta, died Friday, January 24, 2014 at his home on Lake Oconee. Mr. Dorsey was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan on April 1, 1942 to the late John Gau Dorsey and Thelma Gladys Baker Dorsey. He did his undergraduate work at Michigan State and earned his Ph.D in electrical engineering from Purdue University. During the Vietnam War, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy. John spent over thirty years as a professor of engineering at Georgia Tech retiring in 2008. A year and a half ago he retired to Lake Oconee in Greene County. Reading literature was one of his favorite activities, but he also enjoyed carpentry, movies, and cars.
He is survived by his sons, James Dorsey of Greensboro, GA and Andrew Dorsey of Columbus, OH; brother, Thomas Dorsey (Erin) of Port Charlotte, FL; two sisters, Jackie Benson (Delbert) of Port Charlotte, FL and Barbara Dorsey of Englewood, FL; a number of other relatives and many friends
