Joann Mize Vandiver of Greensboro, GA, died on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at her residence surrounded by her family. Born in Greensboro, GA, on October 8, 1946 she was one of four children born to the late Rollin Goodman Mize and Odelle Marlowe Mize. In 1965 Joann graduated from Greensboro High School. On September 28, 1970 she married Louie Lee Vandiver. For over thirty years she worked for the Greene County Board of Education in the lunchroom of Greene County High School and also drove the bus retiring in 2009. Taking care of her family was most important to Joann and she could make the best, most perfect biscuit ever. She collected antiques and porcelain dolls and having her hair and nails done was a must. She enjoyed the Christian channel and her family of cats and dogs. Joann was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Alan Vandiver; siblings, Rollin Arthur Mize, Euel Goodman Mize and Lois Mize Merritt. She is survived by her children, Thomas Hattaway, LuAnn Fleeman, Joleen Fleeman, and John Vandiver; grandchildren, Amanda Hattaway, Chelsea Hattaway, Justin Hattaway, Cole Thornton, Hayden Fleeman, Preston Reynolds, Corey Vandiver, Seth Reynolds and Alyssa Vandiver; five great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
Graveside Services will be held Monday, March 15, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery, 3400 Penfield Road, Greensboro, GA 30642 with Rev. Dennis Mitchell officiating. Serving as pallbearers are Byron Fleeman, Preston Reynolds, Corey Vandiver, Eric Fleeman, Blake Boivin, Cole Thornton and Hayden Fleeman. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
