Barbara Joann Godbee Martin, age 85, of Woodville, GA passed away at her home on Thursday, August 5, 2021 after a lengthy illness. Born December 10, 1935 in Union Point, GA she was the daughter of the late Wilbur Lee Godbee and Ann Sherrer Godbee. Joann attended Union Point High School before marrying Edward Lee “Buster” Martin of Lincolnton, GA on August 26, 1954. She was an Air Force wife of the late Buster Martin and after he retired they returned to Greene County. She loved her family and over the years she was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, sister and grandmother. She was very close to her five brothers. Joann was a faithful member of Wesley Chapel Wesleyan Church in Greensboro, GA.
Survivors include her daughters, Leigh Martin and Tyra Martin both of Woodville, GA; son, Josh Martin (Benita) of Vidor, TX; grandchildren, Eric Moore, Kandace Moore, Brandy Martin, Kim Martin, Kaylan Nichols, Jacob Parson, Jordyn Thomas, Darrell Hallmark and Tony Hallmark; great grandchildren, Desmond Moore, Taylor Shuman, Nathan Shuman, Olivia Funderburk, Makaylah Nichols, Tristan Nichols and Kodie Lee McClendon; brothers, Marion Godbee and wife Sybil of Covington, GA, Dennis Godbee and wife Julie of Buckhead, GA and Eddie Godbee and wife Judy of Bogart, GA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Lee “Buster” Martin; son, Keith Martin and brothers, Donald Godbee and Tyree Godbee.
Memorial Services will be held Saturday, August 7, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. at Wesley Chapel Wesleyan Church, 2830 Highway 15 South, Greensboro, GA 30642 with Pastor Scott Grigonis and Rev. Tim Tabler officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:30 p.m. until time for the service at the church.
