Jo Ellen Parker Brown of Siloam, GA passed away on September 19, 2019 at her residence. A lifelong resident of Greene County, she was born on April 1, 1943 in Greensboro, GA to the late John Cleveland Parker and Sara Jo Hammond Parker. She graduated from Greensboro High School in the class of 1961 and married Hugh Clyde Brown on July 21, 1961. Most of her working career was spent with The Farmers Bank in Union Point as a loan officer. As a member of the Gold Wing Riders Club she enjoyed many cross country rides with her husband. Jo Ellen was a member of Wesley Chapel Wesleyan Church. She was a big supporter of Nathanael Greene Academy where she spent much of her time attending her children’s and grandchildren’s academic and sports activities. She was also a member of NGA Grandparent’s Club. She was loved by everyone who knew her and was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother, who gave of her time to family and friends. Her many interests included photography, plants, flowers, her gold fish pond and walking the trails in the woods.
In addition to her husband of fifty-eight years, Clyde Brown of Siloam, GA, she is survived by three sons, Tim Brown of Greensboro, GA; Greg Brown (Anjie) of White Plains, GA and David Brown (Jennifer) of Buckhead, GA; six grandchildren, Jake Brown, Jessie Brown, Adam Brown, Christopher Brown, Sean Brown and Bonnie Brown; siblings, Diane “Tot” Mize (Jimmie), Johnny Parker (Becky), Jerry Parker (Julie) and Jeff Parker (Christy); and a number of other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by a sister, Millie Styron.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 23, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Wesley Chapel Wesleyan Church, 2830 Highway 15 South, Greensboro, GA 30642 with Rev. Tim Tabler officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday, September 22, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at McCommons Funeral Home. Pallbearers are Jake Brown, Christopher Brown, Adam Brown, Sean Brown, Rob Alford, Derek Brown, Duane Brown and Damon Brown. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
