JoAnne Mullis Powell

JoAnne Mullis Powell, age 72, of Greensboro, GA, died Sunday, January 23, 2005 at Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. A lifelong resident of Greene County, she was born on May 28, 1932 to Martha Oline Almond Mullis and the late John W. Mullis. She attended Union Point High School. During her working career she was a pairer at Chipman Union and a caregiver to the elderly. Mrs. Powell was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Union Point.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Delmus C. Powell, of Greensboro, GA; a daughter, Angie Walters of Powder Springs, GA; a son, Tim Sims of the Greshamville Community; two step daughters, Debbie Thornton and husband Sandy of Woodville, GA and Tammy Cawthon of Woodville, GA; a sister, Louweida Roberts of Jacksonville, FL; three grandchildren, Stephanie Walters, Justin Walters and John Walters and wife Dana; four step grandchildren, Brandy Thornton, Kaitlyn Thornton, Becky Cawthon and Kristy Cawthon; one great grandchild, Katelynn Walters; two step great grandchildren, Makaylee Nation and Nathan Futrelle; and a number of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa Ann Sims.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, January 26, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at McCommons Chapel with Rev. Lavoe Sims officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Union Point. Serving as pallbearers are Wilson Smith, Brian Smith, John Walters, Justin Walters, Lamar Powell and Danny Bohler. The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday night at the funeral home.
