JoAnne (Goolsby) Mitchell

JoAnne Goolsby Mitchell age 95 of Union Point, GA went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 22, 2024.  She was born to the late Paul and Irene Mallory Goolsby on December 29, 1928, in Atlanta, Georgia.  She married the love of her life Robert Thomas “Bob” Mitchell, Jr. on July 2, 1948. JoAnne retired as a bookkeeper from Ivan Allen in Atlanta after thirty years.  For many years she was a member of Christian Fellowship Church and after moving to Greene County, JoAnne found her home church at Union Point Worship Center where she served as secretary for a number of years.  After JoAnne was unable to drive, she began attending Celebration Baptist Church, where she immediately felt at home.  JoAnne will be missed by all who knew her and if she were here today, she would say “Make sure of your salvation today, as no one is promised tomorrow”. She was a woman of faith and always took care of her family.

Survivors include daughter, Donna Huff and husband Pat of Union Point GA; son, Dennis MItchell and wife Tinna of Union Point GA, and son-in-law Frankie Allen; grandchildren:  Rocky Allen (Beth), Mandy Allen, Jason Allen (Amanda), Stacie Nation (David), Katie Holloway (Robert), Jamie Huff (Starla), T. J. Mitchell (Miranda), Stormie Jo Labra (Fabian), Meagan Mitchell (Cliff), Haley Snead (Derek) and Devin Mitchell; great grandchildren: Cody, Harley, Tori, and Aiden Allen Heather Chappel (Ryan), Morgan Nation, Chloe and Vinny Holloway, Aiden Mitchell, Faith Ricks, Cleveland Hartmeyer, Benito, Bobby, and Tatiana Bustos. JoAnne is also survived by many other family members and friends and also her best friend, Jean Adriance.   

She was preceded in death by  her husband Robert Thomas “Bob” Mitchell, Jr.; daughter, Gail Mitchell Allen, her son Robert Thomas “Tommy” Mitchell, III; and all of her siblings, Mary Lou Morris, Rachael Camp, Shirley Goolsby and Paul Goolsby.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at11:00 a.m. at Callaway Funeral Home Chapel, 208 N. Rhodes Street, Union Point, GA 30669 with Rev. Kenny Marr, Rev. Bill Trotter and Rev. Dennis Mitchell officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday, September 24, 2024 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Callaway Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers are David Nation, Rocky Allen, Jason Allen, Jamie Huff, T.J. Mitchell, Devin Mitchell and Morgan Nation. Callaway Funeral Home, 208 N.
