Jerry Dennis Russell, age 84, of Greensboro, Georgia, passed away on Friday, the 6th of February, 2026, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Athens, Georgia. Born in Atlanta on May 11, 1941, Jerry was the 2nd child of James Daniel Russell and Jeanette Patton. He had two sisters, Carol Page (Bobby) and Sharon Angelich (Tom). He graduated from Hapeville High School in 1960. On August 11, 1962, he married Linda Lou Love in Hapeville, GA. They have been married for almost sixty-three years. Jerry proudly served his country in the Air Force, receiving an honorable discharge as Airman First Class after serving from February 19, 1962, to February 18, 1966, at Amarillo Air Force Base in Amarillo, Texas. Following his military service, he began a 40 year career with Delta Air Lines from 1966 to 2006, where he started as an aircraft mechanic and retired as a technical analyst.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Linda, of Greensboro; his sons, Jeff (Missy) and Scott; and his daughter Michelle Brown (Kevin); and grandchildren, Justin (Zach), Michael (Katie), Kari (Cam), Carson (Hailey), and Ashley (Grant); great grandchildren Denver, Caroline, and Sunny. Along with other relatives and friends. He was most proud of his title as Granddaddy, passing down his love of fishing, Georgia Tech, and pancakes to all of the grandkids and great grandkids.
A Memorial Service will be held Monday, March 2, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery (2617 Vinson Hwy, Milledgeville, Georgia 31061) with Pastor Ken Page officiating.
