Jeffrey Dick Obituary

Jeffrey Arpad Dick, 82, died peacefully in his sleep on July 1, 2025, in Greensboro, GA, after living for over a decade with Alzheimer’s disease. Jeff is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Elizabeth Dick (nee Wingfield) of Greensboro, GA; their children: Elizabeth Wingfield (Kurt Schlatzer) of Raleigh, NC, Christian Paschke (Rick) of Sewickley, PA, and Bradley Hassen (Randy) of Tampa, FL; his sister, Barbara Perkins (Michael) of Raleigh, and grandchildren Aaron and Monica Paschke, and Jude and Luke Hassen. He is preceded in death by his parents, Betty and Theodore Dick of Raleigh, and his best friend, Brent Bass of Louisville, KY. 

Jeff was born on October 23, 1942, in New Haven, CT. He graduated from Needham Broughton High School in Raleigh in 1960 and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1964 with a degree in Journalism. Throughout his career, Jeff excelled in positions across fields including law enforcement, journalism, public affairs, marketing communications, and entrepreneurship. While working for General Electric in Louisville, he was a recipient of the Public Relations Society of America’s prestigious Silver Anvil Award recognizing excellence for strategic public relations campaigns. 

Jeff was a lifelong reader, an accomplished swimmer, a follower of PGA golf, a loyal fan of UNC basketball and Tampa professional sports, an impressive dancer, an excellent cook, and a skilled cribbage player. He pursued a range of hobbies including golf, sailing, competition barbecue, hunting, and amateur radio during his time living in North Carolina, Kentucky, Florida, and Georgia. A longtime friend of Bill W., Jeff enjoyed meeting new people and supporting those in need with guidance. 

A memorial service is scheduled on July 29 at 10:00 AM at the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, Greensboro, GA, with a reception to follow at The Glen at Lake Oconee. A memorial service is scheduled on August 1 at 10:00 AM at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church in Raleigh, NC. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Jeff’s life. 

The family would like to thank the members of their Georgia Hospice team, the staff of The Glen at Lake Oconee, and Jeff’s private caregivers for their compassionate care and support. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Carnation Foundation’s “Employee With You Fund,” The Glen at Lake Oconee Employee Appreciation Fund, or the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer in Greensboro, GA.
