Jeannette (Bodiford) Turner

Lillian Jeannette Bodiford Turner, a lifelong resident of Union Point, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at Madison Health and Rehab at the age of 90.

Born in Union Point on April 11, 1935, Jeannette was the eldest daughter of the late James Wilbur Bodiford and Mattie Lee Lunceford Bodiford. She was a proud graduate of Union Point High School class of 1953. During her high school years, she worked as the popcorn girl at the Union Theater for its manager, Billy Turner. This led to their marriage on August 1, 1954. Billy preceded her in death in April 1999.

Jeannette dedicated many years to her career, beginning with 20 years typing orders at Union Manufacturing. Following this, she spent 22 years as a teller and insurance agent at The Farmers Bank and Stewart Insurance, having received her property and casualty insurance license in 1976. At her retirement in 2006, she had also served as the receptionist at the Greene County Farm Bureau. A devoted member of the First United Methodist Church of Union Point, she taught Sunday School and served on various boards.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Malcolm Bodiford; her son-in-law, Dennis “Pokey” Dover; and her nephew, Kelvin Yearwood.

Jeannette is survived by her daughter, Lynn T. Dover of Greensboro, GA; her grandson, William T. “Bill” Dover (Chris) of Greensboro, GA; her great-grandson, Aidan T. Dover; and her sister, Carolyn B. Godbee of Union Point, GA. She also leaves behind a number of beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, November 29, 2025, beginning at 10:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Callaway Funeral Home Chapel, 208 N. Rhodes Street, Union Point, GA 30669 with Rev. Bruce Lovin officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, Rhodes Street, Union Point, GA 30669. Pallbearers will be Larry Bodiford, Keith Yearwood, Kris Yearwood, Chad Godbee, Brandon Bodiford, Jeffrey Bodiford, Ken Bodiford, Jerry Coker and Paul Coker.
