Jean Jeitz passed away peacefully December 20, 2025, at The Harbor in Eatonton, Georgia after her nearly 4-year struggle with frontal temporal dementia. She had been a resident of the Harbor memory care facility for the past year.
Jean was born on April 3, 1947, in Watertown, South Dakota. She attended schools in Pierre, South Dakota and then studied art and design in Chicago before embarking on her career in retail sales and then interior design & management with Ethan Allen in Connecticut.
She is survived by her loving husband, Ron of 57 years, her brother Terry Myers (Lucila) in Fullerton, CA and sisters Mary Mitchell (Jerry) in Rapid City, SD, Kathy Rea in Sturgis, SD, & Karen Eissinger in Virginia Beach, VA, in addition to many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father Leo Myers and mother Florence Myers.
She and Ron loved to travel and visited most of the National Parks of America in addition to cruising the Mediterranean and Caribbean. Some of her fondest memories were from their trip to the Canadian Rockies and Grand Teton National Park in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
Her eye for fashion and color helped her create many memories in the Lake Oconee area as she designed and made one-of-a-kind handbags in her studio. She was always excited to see many of the ladies at the lake carrying her design creations. Jean is fondly remembered by many of her clients as the “Bag Lady” at the Lake.
Jean was a caring, loving person. She was always eager to help anyone, volunteering whenever there was a need in the community. She particularly enjoyed the many friendships developed with her gal pals at the Habitat for Humanity retail store and the Humane Society in Greensboro.
The family extends a heartfelt thank you to Rowena Hall and Necotia Grimes for their love and care as sitters for JJ during this past year, and to Jaci Grusznski, her therapist and special friend. Many thanks also to the loving, caring staff at The Harbor, in addition to the most recent exceptional care provided by the Peaceful Purpose Hospice staff.
The family will hold a private service at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W. Broad St., Greensboro, GA, (706) 453-2626. The guest register is available for signing on the funeral home's website at www.mccommonsfuneralhome.com.egister.
