Jean Coleman Obituary
Martha Jean Brown Coleman, age 81, of Greensboro, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at her residence. Born on July 19, 1944, in Sparta, Georgia, she was one of nine children of the late Roger Brown and Martha Jane Turner Brown. She was a graduate of Sparta High School. She married Eugene Coleman on February 23, 1990, in Union Point. Jean was a homemaker who deeply loved her family, enjoyed flowers and gardening, and cherished her grandson, Brayden. As long as her health allowed, she was a dedicated member of Margaret’s Grove Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband, Gene Coleman, she is survived by her daughters, Lynn Rhodes Webb (PC) of Crawfordville, Georgia, and Lisa Rhodes Batchelor (Harold) of Greensboro, Georgia; grandson, Brayden Batchelor (Hannah); sisters, Sandra Shelton (Jimmy) of Crawfordville, Georgia, Karen May (Mickey) of Sparta, Georgia, and Judy Womack of Sparta, Georgia; and her beloved caregiver, Tlisa Wynn, along with numerous other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her brothers William, George, Jerry, and Bobby Brown, and sister Mildred Burgamy.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 8, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Margaret’s Grove Baptist Church, located at 1791 Margaret’s Grove Road, Crawfordville, GA 30631, with Rev. Dennis Garner and Rev. Tommy Darracott officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will include Jamie Rhodes, Jonathan McCannon, Brayden Batchelor, Bob Watson, Joey Rhodes, and Larry Moore with Herbert Rhodes serving as honorary pallbearer.
