Martha Jane Parker

Martha Jane Parker of Greensboro, Georgia, died on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at Athens Regional Medical Center at the age of 71. Jane was born in Augusta, GA on June 29, 1944 the daughter of the late Dr. Joseph Lee Parker, Jr. and Martha Flemming Parker.  She graduated from Greensboro High School. Jane served as the receptionist and secretary for her father, Dr. Lee Parker.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Greensboro.  All of her life she dealt in antiques and enjoyed going to and having flea market sales.

She is survived by her daughter, Mandy Parker of Greensboro, GA; a brother, Joe Parker of Midway, GA; nieces, Rynee and Michael Strickland, Allison and Dusty Laux and Joely and Matt Nicholson; other relatives and friends.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, “Little” Lee Whichard.

Memorial Services will be held Thursday, January 14, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at McCommons Chapel, 109 W. Broad Street, Greensboro, GA 30642 with Rev. Farrett Boswell officiating. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Matt Thackston, Dale Thomas, Bill Crawford, Faron Beal, Jeff Thurmond, Tommy Underwood, Scott Montgomery and Charles Crumbley.  Visitation will be held after the service at the home of Mandy Parker, 1300 N. East Street, Greensboro, GA 30642.  The family request that any memorials be made to Special Olympics Georgia, 4000 Dekalb Technology Pkwy #400, Atlanta, GA 30340.  McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
