James Covin Thompson (Jim) of Greensboro, Georgia passed away on Monday, May 10, 2021 at The Glen at Lake Oconee. He was 76. Born November 1, 1944 in Miami, Florida he was the son of the late Covin Northington Thompson and Agnes Cairns Thompson. Jim grew up in Brunswick, Georgia. He attended ABAC in Tifton, Georgia and graduated with degrees in Forestry from the University of Georgia. He married the former Nell Hogan on June 3, 1966. Jim was drafted into the U. S. Army. After basic training, he received training at the U. S. Army Intelligence School at Fort Holabird in Baltimore, Maryland in Image Interpretation. Jim then used these skills while serving in Vietnam. He later taught at South Georgia College in Douglas, Georgia and at Georgia College in Milledgeville, Georgia for several years. He then put his people skills to work in a business that he loved – real estate and retired from Lake Oconee Properties.
Jim is survived by his wife of nearly fifty-five years, Nell Thompson of Greensboro, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his only brother, Daniel H. Thompson.
