James "Jim" Anthony

Argires James Anthony, age 78, of Greensboro, GA, died peacefully in his sleep Sunday, December 12, 2021 at Piedmont Athens Regional in Athens GA. Born in Miami, FL on May 11, 1943 he was one of five and the only son of the late James Argeris Anthony and Inez Croft Anthony. In 1961 he graduated from Miami Jackson High School and married his high school sweetheart, Geraldine Mastrogiovanni on February 17, 1962. He was a builder and contractor his entire life and built his business Jim Anthony Stucco after moving from Ft. Lauderdale to Greene County in September of 1999. He lived for his family, his wife, kids, and grandkids. Jim was a true outdoorsman, and spent his time taking his family hunting and fishing, spreading his love of the outdoors to everyone around him, creating a lasting legacy for generations.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, Geri Anthony of Greensboro, GA; three sons, James "Jim" Anthony of Buckhead, GA, Todd David Anthony and his wife Bruna of Greensboro, GA, and Charles Quinton "Chuck" Anthony and his wife Katie of Greensboro, GA; daughter-in-law, Terri Anthony of Maxeys, GA; sisters, Charlene Hickson and her husband Jamie and Julie Bell and her husband Kurt; ten grandchildren, Mark, Kristen, Brandee, Carson, Devyn, Courtney, Haylee, Quinton, Todd, and Charlie; three great grandchildren, Lily James, Colton, and Lana; nieces and nephews Linda, Anna, Stacy, Tonya, Tammie, Jamie Jr., Tina, Francis, Janice, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Mark Anthony and his sisters, Gwendolyn Griffin and Mary Williams.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. at McCommons Chapel, 109 W. Broad Street, Greensboro, GA 30642 with Rev. Dr. Jimmy Long officiating.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until time for the service at the funeral home.  Interment will follow the service at Anthony Farms Resting Place, 2696 Union Point Road, Maxeys, GA 30671.  Serving as pallbearers will be Jim Anthony, Todd Anthony, Chuck Anthony, Mark Anthony, Carson Anthony, Jamie Hickson, and Scott Martin.  The family requests that any memorials be made to Anthony Farms Resting Place, 4581 Walker Church Road, Greensboro, GA 30642.  McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
