James Eugene McPhail, age 69, of Eatonton, Georgia, died on Monday, May 15, 2006 at his home. James was born on May 23, 1936, in Detroit, Michigan, the son of the late James Burton McPhail and Cecilia Slezak McPhail. He graduated from Holy Redeemer School in Detroit, Michigan. After high school he joined the United States Air Force in July of 1954 and served four and one half years while stationed in Japan and Korea. He retired as a Utilities Technician from the City of Livonia, Michigan. While in Livonia, Michigan he was an active member of the Elks Lodge BPOE No. 2246 and the American Legion. Mr. McPhail was a member of Christ Our King and Savior Catholic Church in Greensboro.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Jean Schuknecht McPhail of Eatonton, GA; two sons, Patrick McPhail of Eatonton, GA and James Michael McPhail of Eatonton, GA; a sister, Phyllis McNamee of Austin, TX; a brother, Roy S. McPhail of Livonia, MI; a grandson, Patrick James McPhail; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, May 17, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at Christ Our King & Savior Catholic Church in Greensboro, GA with Father G. Philip Ryan officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Friday night at Harry Will Funeral Home in Livonia, MI with the Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2006 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church in Livonia, MI with Father Denis Theroux officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Memorial Gardens in Livonia, MI. The family requests that any memorials be made to the charity of your choice. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
